It's suprisingly easy to cycle in heels. Not that I make a habit of pedalling to college in stilettos but that's because once I got off the bike I wouldn't be able to walk fast enough between classes, not because it would make cycling more tricky. Actually your feet can sit quite happily on pedals in a pair of high-heeled shoes and that's just another reason why cycling doesn't have to mean losing all sense of style. Although I've always liked the idea of cycling fully nerded-up and incognito a la Clark Kent, and then divesting oneself to reveal your inner style superman once you arrive at a place.Anyway, hooray for Hackney Council (and Tower Hamlets) who have organized a fashion show for cyclists on the 14th of Feb, as part of London Fashion Week. Spin down to Columbia Road for 6pm and you'll catch top cyclewear designers Dashing Tweeds (you saw them here first) aswell as Cyclodelic - see their clever cuffs below which are guaranteed to keep your palazzo pants out of your bicycle chain and can be worn as snazzy bracelets once you're off-wheel.
Other designers promised include Boulder Boutique, Smeear, Hoai-oanh Vu, Archie’s Grobags, Swallow, Keith James, Two N Fro, Rose & Buck, and Shop 172.Hackney councillor Alan Laing says: "We want to encourage more women to get on their bikes to help make Hackney a cleaner and greener place with a healthy and sustainable form of transport."
Why stop with women though? Well apparently there is a good reason for the female-centric nature of this event; according to the Department for Transport, women at all ages are far less likely to hop on a bike than men.

But men seem to be interested in looking good while cycling too. Here's Robert Polet, Chairman of the Gucci Group, on a - wait for it - Gucci bike. Haute couture is getting with the programme. Check out this baby from CHANEL:
